Full crossplay support is also promised between PC, console and streaming platforms. Ubisoft promises the game will evolve across multiple seasons, as is expected for a game of this kind, and that includes new characters, maps, modes, tactical tools and other content on a seasonal basis. Unlike most other games though, players can swap contractors, much like games like Overwatch, effectively letting them adapt to changing tactics and enemy compositions.Īdditional modes will be available at launch, including some that promise a more “casual” experience. The first three classes set for testing and release are Assault, Support and Scout. There are also an “advanced class system” that lets players upgrade and customize their characters, known in the game as contractors. Recent entries in the Ghost Recon series like Wildlands and Breakpoint have been third-person action titles, but Frontline takes players back to its first-person roots. This process is noisy and easily spotted, so other teams can easily swoop in to take you out during extraction. In the game’s open world of Drakemoor Island, there is no converging circle, no death zone, only intel and exfil. Yes, yes, it’s a battle royale game from Ubisoft, but the twist is that teams work to complete dynamic objectives before heading to a drop zone for extraction. The twelfth release in the tactical shooter franchise (unless you count differently than I do), Ghost Recon Frontline is a free-to-play PVP shooter designed to support up to 100 players fighting as teams.
